3 Fun Facts About Me
I grew up in a tiny town but a really big family. I am one of six, my mom is one of nine and my dad is one of eleven!
I fell in love with teaching as a collegiate volleyball player running elementary school camps.
My favorite foods are homemade sushi and air popped popcorn.
Back in 2007, I earned my elementary education degree and ventured into the world of teaching. My first teaching gig was in a cozy little rural school in Michigan, where I took on the sixth grade. It was during this time that I realized just how much I could influence young minds. I experienced how I could boost their confidence, help them with social-emotional skills, and even shape their views on learning and friendships.
But as life goes, I got an itch for something different. So, I packed my bags and headed to the hustle and bustle of Columbus, Ohio. What was supposed to be a one-year nanny gig somehow stretched into a fantastic eight-year adventure. I became a household manager and partnered with a lovely couple to raise their incredible, fierce, kind, and confident daughters.
Then, the teaching bug bit me again, but this time in the virtual world. I started teaching ESL to Chinese students online and found my groove. I learned the ins and outs of teaching youngsters in a virtual setting and loved every bit of it. But you know me - always up for a new challenge.
That's why, in 2020, I jumped on board with this cool teaching platform called Outschool. What drew me in was how inclusive it was and the freedom it gave teachers like me to create engaging and unique curricula based on our passions and expertise.
Now, my passion is all about guiding kids to discover their inner awesome. I want them to feel confident sharing their thoughts, speaking up, and tackling life's curveballs with a growth mindset. I'm seriously inspired by today's kids; they've got the potential to change the world with their kindness and openness. I'm honored to be virtually invited into all types of homes where I help children around the world
“Do It Awesomely”.
